Step By Step Watch Restoration
By René Rondeau

Whether it's your own heirloom watch, a collector's item, or a watch from my inventory, every Hamilton Electric or mechanical watch I restore receives the same attention to detail.
Disassembled Parts
Each watch is completely disassembled and the individual parts are examined under high magnification. Any worn, broken, or damaged parts are repaired or replaced as needed. (The dime in the picture is a scale reference.)

Ultrasonic Cleaning

Ultrasonic Cleaning

The disassembled watch movement is cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaning machine, using a series of special solutions to eliminate all dirt, dust, metal fragments, and dried oil.

Reassembly

With a high-power loupe and small hand tools I meticulously reassemble, lubricate, and adjust the movement to original Hamilton factory specifications. New batteries are installed in all Hamilton Electric watches.

Evaluation
Evaluation

Testing The running movement is evaluated with the aid of an electronic analyzing machine which indicates the rate, beat, and other operating characteristics which cannot be determined visually.

Dial Restoration
Dial Repair

Corroded, stained, or otherwise discolored dials can be refinished to look exactly as original.

Finishing Touches
Polishing

The case is carefully polished to remove light surface scratches, then cleaned in an ultrasonic solution. Crystals are polished or replaced for perfect clarity.

The Completed Process
The Completed Process
Yes, this really is the same watch!

The tarnished, scuffed, non-running watch has been restored to look and run as it did when it left the factory years ago.
